Launched in 1759, the third HMS Supply was a Royal Navy armed tender that played an important part in the foundation of Australia.

She left Portsmouth on 13 May 1787 and was the first to arrive in Botany Bay on 18 January 1788. Supply was under the command of Captain Arthur Phillip and captained by Lieutenant Henry Ball. Supply was the first ship to sail into Port Jackson after the original Botany Bay landing was found unsuitable for settlement. After the establishment of the initial settlement at Port Jackson, Supply made her first trip to Norfolk Island, where Lord Howe Island was sighted and named for the first time.

Today, our Australian ship Supply II carries the name from HMS Supply and continues the link to Lord Howe Island. Our Mascot is "Old Tom" the most famous of the legendary Orcas of Eden.
